Maria Plumb Thompson - Mayor of Gosh

Maria has been active in Community Theatre for longer than she cares to admit - with Villanova Players, as President, Treasurer, secretary and sundry other roles, directing (e.g. "Snapshots from Home" and many more) and acting (playing many roles, including Annie Sullivan in "The Miracle Worker"), with Community Theatre ("Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi"), Arts Theatre (Linda in "Death of a Salesman").
She has also been a reader for Playlab for many years.

In May 2025, with a conscientious disregard for democratic processes, and by “flinging at the Glugs’ collective head, strange language, ages dead”.
With many a quid pro quo, vincent veritas, ultra vires, quo warranto, and other erudite Greek† phrases, the matter was tossed about.
And finally with a hic sunt Leones, the decision was made and Maria was elected Mayor.

†[People tell me these are not in fact Greek phrases, but they are in The Book, and I am sure the Glugs wouldn't get it wrong - Webmaster]

Bill Davies - Chief Glug

To be Chief Glug is quite the thing
And his praises we all sing
But "William the First" -
Is a title not worst
So why don’t we just crown him King?

Léonie Flood - Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Guest Wrangler.

Léonie has worked with many theatre companies (mainly in offstage roles), and knows a vast number of very interesting people.

Rod Thompson

Rod is the Mayors Private Chauffeur, Bump-in Manager, Work Experience Poet Laureate, and the fellow that lets the waiters know when we are ready for lunch. He is also Webmaster.

And this is Peter Lovely

Our talented photographer.

* Glugs love impressive words, and "Symposium" is from the Ancient Greek: συμπόσιον (sympósion), from συμπίνειν (sympínein), meaning 'to drink together'.
In Classical Greece, a symposium could be anything from a serious academic meeting (the usual meaning today) to a ribald Dionesian event.
Wikipedia explains this, and highlights the dangers inherant in "going on" from one symposium to another.
Our Symposia fit into the safe middle ground - good food, wine, beer and soft drinks, not too wild, but also not what you would call "academic".
